This and That

I can't believe it. My two weeks of freedom are just about up. Eeeek! I had grand visions of accomplishing a lot around the house, of taking fun day trips, of generally doing things that two weeks off affords. But, instead I mostly just laid around the house. The first week was taken up by Christmas prep and family gatherings and by week two I couldn't muster the strength to do anything that could remotely be considered productive. It was so cold that day trips felt like they would be a little depressing. And I can only blame pure laziness on my lack of interest in chores. Paint a radiator? Or sit on the sofa eating cookies and watching Pride and Prejudice for the third time? Is it just me or is this an easy decision?

Really though I think these two weeks were just what I needed. I'm looking forward to the new job and the fresh start of the new year. Happy New Year friends!

P.S. Hail!

The Holidays

Friends, hello. I'm thoroughly enjoying this break from being at a computer all day and plan to really take advantage of this time away from the desk by not doing much blogging or anything else computer related.

I did however want to share some fun photos from a Petersen family Christmas a couple of years ago when Zoe and Mazie were still new to us. We've been lucky to have Louis with us as well for the past couple of Christmases and he'll be with us again this year.

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Always Money in the Banana Stand

Ta-Da! Here is Mikey in the costume I made him for Halloween! In case you can't tell, he is dressed as George Michael Bluth from Arrested Development (our favorite show). A lot of people didn't get the costume since they've never seen the show, but the people that did get it had such great reactions that I feel the effort that went into the costume was totally worthwhile. Throughout the night people would walk by and with a totally straight face say "There's always money in the banana stand". ha! One girl even did a little silly dance she was so excited when she saw his costume.

For anyone that may want to do this costume in the future, I noticed (too late) that Amazon sells blue aprons with a banana on them here. I just went to Jo-Ann Fabrics and bought the apron, printed the pictures, and pinned them on. You can't tell from this picture but the name tag says "Mr. Manager." Mike already owned a yellow shirt, and khakis, so that part was easy, and the banana stand itself didn't take too long. It's just poster board with a string of Christmas lights on them. And of course I made the sign on top which I think turned out pretty well!
